P for Persistent
Paavo Lotjonen is a member of Apocalyptica since the beginning of the band. He never left the band despite of Antero teasing him all the time. And playing cello or any instrument for such a long time is truly a sign of persistency.
A for Active
That is the least we can say about the oldest member of the band. He likes sports. And lots of it! In his free time he likes to go Skiing. Alpine-Skiing (Freeride, off-piste) or Telemark-Skiing he likes it all. He's not affraid to get wet as he loves to go scubadiving or Windsurfing. Paavo likes to do things in nature like Mountain Biking, Jogging, Target Shooting (with a pistol) or trekking. Paavo is a family man too, because when he goes orienteering (running with only a compass) he takes his two-year old son with him in a child carrier rucksack and his wife acompanies him. Paavo once said that he's bad habbit is that he likes to sleep late in the mornings. But can you blame him, with all those exhousting activities.
A for Academy
Like all the other bandmembers, Paavo attended the Sibelius Academy where he graduated in 1995 and got the diploma of Sollist Cellist. Paavo was a good student and he liked going to school. It was not surprising Paavo became a musician. It runs in his family, his parents and even grandparents were all musicians. After he graduated at the Sibelius Academy he concentrated on teaching cello in West-Helsinki and Northwest-Helsinki musicalcolleges. He was also working in the Finnish National Opera.
V for Versatile
Now we know that Paavo does not only love music but also many different sports you can understand he is versatile. But not only that, he has many different roles in the band too.
On stage, Paavo is the entertainer. He's the one that can make an entire audience clap and jump. He also flirts alot with the audience. The girls who have been on the first row will agree. He has his typical way of seducing the camera's in video's. And all this while he plays without missing a note. Paavo is also the libero of the band playing base parts and solos while changing his role frequently during one song.
O for Outgoing
Like the other members of the band he is really good with the fans. And everyone who has spoken to mister Lötjönen will agree that he's really easy to talk to. Eicca said about Paavo that he is someone always in the mood to meet new people, to go out and chitchat with the fans. Paavo has also alot of humor, but without realising he's funny. The funny accent when talking English, the things he sais, the things he does and the expression on his face while doing it... a sight worth a milion.
